Esche To Stay In Russia

For those who were wondering and worrying about the possible return of Robert Esche to PhiladelphiaEsche, stop now. The former Flyers goaltender has opted to honor the final year of his contract and stay in the Kontinental Hockey League.

According to WKTV in Utica, NY has opted to stay in Russia for the final year of his current contract, and that means no NHL return for at least this season.

“Having to choose between a return to the National Hockey League and a return to the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia, goalie and Whitesboro native Rob Esche has chosen the latter, telling WKTV he will honor the final year of his contract with SKA St. Petersburg.”

Esche recovered his good play over in Russia posting  a 1.87 GAA in 38 games. With this news, the Flyers look into a goalie in tonight’s entry draft.
